Freyr: The Mecca of Belgian Climbing

Commissioned by the NKBV (Royal Dutch Mountaineering and Climbing Association), this film takes a deep dive into Freyr, widely regarded as the most prestigious and challenging climbing area in Belgium. Situated along the Meuse river, the majestic limestone spires of Freyr offer a world-class vertical playground that has defined generations of climbers.

Freyr is one of the first climbing crags I have ever visited. I still remember my first visit: standing at the base of the rock, looking up… and honestly shitting my pants.

After a periode of time I kept on coming back here. Weekend after weekend and I started to love this place.

To be invited here by Regien and Harald to create a portrait of this area felt like a special moment. Being able to capture the routes and the people that define this area felt like a full circle moment.
